Walls
Command strips and adhesive hooks are your best friend. They've gotten remarkably good — you can hang real art, mirrors, even floating shelves without touching a drill. If your lease allows small nail holes (ask — many Luxia communities are fine with it), gallery walls are back and better than ever.
Lighting
This is the single biggest upgrade most people skip. Swap out the overhead fixture for a plug-in pendant or arc lamp. Add warm-toned table lamps. Layer your lighting. The apartment that felt like a dorm at 6pm will feel like a boutique hotel at 8pm. Total cost: $80-150.
Textiles
Rugs define rooms. A good rug on hard flooring makes the space quieter, warmer, and more finished than any other single purchase. Layer a jute rug under a patterned one if you're feeling ambitious. Throw pillows and curtains do the rest.
Plants
A pothos in a hanging planter costs $12 and makes you look like you have your life together. A fiddle leaf fig costs $40 and makes you look like you have your life together and also read design blogs. Both are correct.
