Few residential streets in Texas look like Swiss Avenue. Established in 1973 as Dallas's first designated historic district, its mansion-lined blocks trace back to the 1905 Munger Place development — one of the earliest deed-restricted, curbed-and-guttered subdivisions in the country, built for Dallas's turn-of-the-century business class. Beaux-Arts, Prairie School and Colonial Revival homes sit under a mature oak canopy along wide, tree-shaded medians, making it one of the most photographed streets in the city and a defining reason people fall for this neighborhood.

Getting around

The neighborhood sits just east of downtown Dallas with quick access to I-30 and Central Expressway, so the Arts District, Deep Ellum and Uptown are all close.

The community sits at 4217 Swiss Avenue, about half a mile south of where the district's grand homes begin at the 4900 block — a straight ten-minute walk up Swiss Avenue puts you on the same blocks as the mansions. Residents get Old East Dallas's tree-lined character and an easy walk into the neighborhood's dining, from a newer-construction address just down the street from the architecture the area is known for. Baylor University Medical Center Dallas and its Louise Herrington School of Nursing are about 0.8 miles away, in the same East Dallas medical corridor.
