Why renters choose Richardson

Richardson has been a magnet for technology and telecommunications employers since the 1960s and '70s, when Texas Instruments and Collins Radio built out major operations along what's now US-75 — the stretch still known as the Telecom Corridor, home today to names like AT&T, Cisco Systems and Samsung. More recently, the 186-acre CityLine development brought State Farm's regional campus to the city, along with walkable restaurants, a Whole Foods and its own DART rail station. UT Dallas sits on the north side of town, adding a university presence and a younger population to the mix.

Getting around

US-75 (Central Expressway) runs the length of Richardson, with the President George Bush Turnpike crossing it near CityLine for quick east-west access. DART's Red and Orange Lines serve four Richardson stations — CityLine/Bush, Galatyn Park, Arapaho Center and Spring Valley — with direct service to downtown Dallas in about 25–30 minutes.

The Telecom Corridor, then and now

The "Telecom Corridor" name dates back more than half a century, and it's still an accurate description: the US-75 corridor through Richardson remains home to a dense cluster of technology and telecommunications employers alongside newer, more mixed-use development like CityLine. It's a big part of why Richardson punches above its weight for a city its size — jobs cluster close to home, without requiring a commute into Dallas.

Living at The Register

The Register is the Richardson community — set inside CityLine itself, within walking distance of the district's restaurants, Whole Foods and DART station. The State Farm regional campus is practically next door, and UT Dallas is roughly 8–12 minutes north on US-75 or Coit Road. Live pricing and availability are on its own site.

Pet-friendly living in Richardson

The City of Richardson's Bush Central Barkway dog park sits along the President George Bush Turnpike just west of US-75, about a mile from The Register, with separate fenced areas for large and small dogs, a dedicated area for older or sedentary dogs, and a central plaza with shade structures.
